Paris Haute Couture Photo Shoot

April 28th, 2010 by Tricia B

It’s my second full day in Paris and what a day it was. A Parisian Haute Couture photo shoot took most of the day and here’s a sneak peak at some of the images I made.  These were taken in a variety of places near the river Seine in the Isle de Cite area.  More images will follow once I am home in Calgary.

Parisian wedding inspirations

March 28th, 2010 by Tricia B

In April I will be in the City of Lights, Paris, and have started organizing a photo shoot along with the lovely Nikki McLeod.  Below are some of my inspirations for the shoot. The hair, make-up, styling, etc. all illustrate what I have in my head that I want to translate into photographs. Nikki and I cannot wait to meet in Paris and I’m counting down the days.

I will be sure to post my images once I am back in North America!

Red Rock Canyon – Las Vegas TTD shoot with Scarlett Lillian

March 19th, 2010 by Tricia B

While I was in Las Vegas for the 2010 WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Professionals International) convention this year, I was very fortunate to meet Scarlett Lillian.  Scarlett is a phenomenal wedding and portrait photographer based in Florida, and she was gracious enough to invite me to her Red Rock Canyon shootout.  Scarlett is like the edgy little sister I never had, and was so wonderful to work with. She inspired me to push my creativity out of the box, and allowed me to create some amazing images.

Our bride and groom for the day were Mr. and Mrs. Wade (Erin and Gavin) from Orange County, California.  These shutterbug newlyweds had a great time in front of the cameras for a change ~ they were awesome at the romantic kissing pictures too!

Here are some of my favorite images from the afternoon in Red Rock Canyon…..

StyleLab: A workshop with Chenin Boutwell and The Wedding Chicks

February 3rd, 2010 by Tricia B

A week after my birthday in January, I was able to attend the StyleLab workshop in Orange County, CA, hosted by Chenin Boutwell and The Wedding Chicks. Despite the rain and tornado warnings for the area, we learned a ton, networked and have a ton of fun. Thank you to Chenin & Doug Boutwell of Boutwell Studios, and Amy & Jocey of The Wedding Chicks. Your enthusiasm was contagious and I’m thankful for everything I’ve learned from you.

Girls…. if you ever have the opportunity to wear one of Joan Shum’s dresses you are very fortunate indeed. The dress she provided was stunning and it made me want to start planning a vow renewal with my husband so I could wear it.

Manolo Blahnik wedding shoes

January 26th, 2010 by Tricia B

Manolo Blahnik makes my favorite wedding shoes. These jeweled d’Orsay shoes (the Sedaraby) feature a jeweled buckle and come in white satin, silver napa leather, or gold napa leather ~ completely fabulous with any wedding dress. With a 3 1/2 inch heel, these shoes are the perfect height for both walking down the aisle and dancing the night away. The peep toe allows your wedding pedicure to show through as well.

With more neutral wedding shoes being featured for 2010, the Manolo Sedaraby is a shoe to consider for your wedding.

Wedding Bands – Do they have to match?

January 5th, 2010 by Tricia B

DO WEDDING BANDS HAVE TO MATCH?

The idea of matchy-matchy wedding bands has come and gone for a lot of modern couples. Considering you will be wearing your wedding band for the rest of your life, it should be a ring that you adore and is so comfortable you never want to take it off. Many couples find when shopping for wedding bands that what is great for one isn’t great for the other. Be it feel, weight, type of metal, or design, the matching bands don’t work for both the bride and groom. Another consideration – the type of band that works with the bride’s engagement ring may not have a men’s version.

When my husband and I shopped for our own wedding bands I was surprised at his taste in rings. I’m so glad we shopped together because what I would have selected for him was no where near his own choice. My band has diamonds in platinum while his band is titanium and 18K yellow gold. Do they look like matching bands? No way! Do they look great on each of us and feel amazing to wear? Heck yes! I can’t imagine either of us wearing a wedding band that we didn’t really like.

It’s 2010 and it’s time for couples to let go of the matchy bands, if they’d rather wear a ring reflective of their own personality. With that I hope the wedding bands you buy for your upcoming wedding are awesome, and fit who you are while reminding you of your commitment to each other.

Fish Creek Park + Calgary Zoo wedding

October 3rd, 2009 by Tricia B

Robyn and Brad had the most lovely outdoor ceremony in Fish Creek Park. Despite the overcast weather during the ceremony, the guests were moved while listening to Robyn and Brad exchange their vows.

After the ceremony, the groom presented his bride with a pair of cowboy boots so she could commence her riding lessons in style. The wedding party headed to Teatro’s for a champagne break while the guests continued on to the Safari Lodge at the Calgary Zoo.

Cochrane Historic RancheHouse Wedding

September 15th, 2009 by Tricia B

Anah and Justin were married at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Cochrane, Alberta and their reception was held at the Cochrane Historic RancheHouse. The day was a perfect blend of warm temperatures, sun and breeze that created wonderful opportunities to make images in the park below the RancheHouse.  Both Anah and Justin looked amazing along with their wedding party and the joy among the group was contagious.  Here are just a few of my favorite images from their spectacular day.

Nicole and Ryan were married August 15, 2009 in Confederation Park in Calgary. Although the morning was chilly and overcast, by the ceremony time the sun had come out and the day warmed up nicely. Calgary Zoo wedding

August 13th, 2009 by Tricia B

Jessica and Nick were married on August 1st at the Calgary Zoo. The ceremony took place in a garden near the Conservatory and the reception was held in the Safari Lodge. Both wedding parties dressed for the wedding at the Hotel Arts, and the Bride and Groom would spend their first night as a married couple in one of the gorgeous suites.

This was a very intimate wedding of family and friends witnessing Nick and Jessica’s commitment to each other. Family from Ontario were present and had to opportunity to learn a line dance to celebrate Calgary’s western flair. Ray the DJ played Michael Jackson’s Thriller as the bride and groom provided a show of the original dance moves from the music video. Weddings like this make me so glad to be a Calgary wedding photographer. Here is a look at some of my favorite images of their day.
